Currently, there are 13 locations with thousands of pounds of hair and nylons coming in from every state in the US and from Canada, Brazil, France, and the UK. Booms are being made all along the Gulf Coast near beaches and marshes. What a community feeling! We all get it. We shampoo our hair because hair collects oil!

This Hair-Mat-Mushroom concept has been proven on a smaller scale all over the world and now its time has come. As the dire implications of the spill are becoming more apparent, there is an offensive we can all be a part of.

The magazine's 13th annual Salon Today 200 issue profiled the selected salons in its January 2010 issue. The 200 salons were selected for their best business practices from applications submitted by Salon Today readers, who represent the 25,000 top-producing salons and spas in the country.

The magazine honored applicants in 11 different best practice categories, including Compensation and Benefits, Recruitment Training, Customer Service, Retention and Reward Programs, Advanced Education, Marketing, Technology, Environmental Sustainability, Retail Programs, Inventory Control and Sales Growth. Press-Citizen's "Best of the Area" for Salons winner!

Best of the Area is the Iowa City Press-Citizen's annual citizen vote on the best aspects of the greater Iowa City/Coralville area.

Doug Warner, who owns Twin Image Spa Salon with his wife, Laura, said his business is taking full-service to the next level.

Recently, the pair bought an old car rental facility at 824 Orchard St. and converted it into TI Auto Spa, located just behind the salon at 121 W. Benton St.

Warner said that when clients come in for lengthy salon services, they can pamper their car at the same time. They simply request what they want for their carat the same time they make their other appointments.

Twin Image has been in business for 32 years. It began as a small barber shop with three employees and has grown to a salon and spa with 35 employees. We have a wonderful, loyal and longtime staff and clientele.

Twin Image has received several national awards through the years. The most notable was one of the top 200 fastest growing salons in the country, recognized by Salon Today magazine, a leading industry publication. This award was received for six consecutive years.

The magazine’s tenth annual Salon Today 200 profiled the selected salons in its January 2007 issue. The 200 salons were selected from applications submitted by Salon Today readers, who represent the 25,000 top-producing salons in the country. The magazine honored the applicants who posted the highest increases in gross sales between 2004 and 2005, and who were on track to increase sales significantly in 2006.
